If you are gaining say 1 # of boost at 220 mph then you would still be back to the fact that that is less HP gain at the lower air density (high altitude) vs. more HP at a higher air density (lower altitude) and we are back to the fact of it is a 'wash' since as the HP goes up the drag increases to offset it.
On the other hand, dense air doesn't make the car heavier. If acceleration is a limiting factor, as in a very fast car, or a short course (say Elmo), then high density is your friend.

Just perusing my data - my first runs of the day - the earliest runs - were consistently my slowest of the day - provided you throw out the outliers such as rookie run and ill-fated push-start.

Which brings into question operating temps of the oil and coolant - numbers I should have tracked, but did not.

Shame on me . . .

A while back I saw mention that the power cost for cold lubricant in transmission and differential in a race car was about 40 hp at the axle.

It would be a good idea to pre-heat the engine oil, gear box and diff on a serious bleeding edge record attempt.
