Back in the early 1960's this current LSR streamliner owner ran the car pictured below at NHRA events. It was much faster than the current top fuel cars of the time so he was asked to not return with it, I think his words were "they banned it"

So see if you know who is said streamliner racer/owner?  :-D

What's the answer Mike? It appears we're working with our normal attention span and seem to have wandered way off topic.   :-D

Well, I might throw a hint or two out there first, make you work for it a bit.

His streamliner has been running on the salt recently.
He has years in the sport of LSR with many different cars including lakesters & roadsters...

Let's see...... how many 'liners are out there....

Mike...Is he a really tall guy, maybe from up the California Coast a bit? Missed seeing you at the Salt. Hope to be able to come back in September, but at best it will be a 50/50 deal....

No Paul, not in California.... but you have tech'd the car.....  wow, that's another hint.  :-o

We were ready to go but the news said stay put so we did. We'll be at the world finals if it happens. Hope to see you then.  :-)

... Blown(supercharged) will be an artificially-aspirated engine with a mechanically-driven supercharger and/or exhaust-driven turbocharger powered by the primary engine...
Thanks, DW- that's the rule I thought I had read.

Never try to read between the lines in the rule book. You could certainly argue that compressed air is outside the rule definition, but the powers that be won't let that happen.
If you want to eliminate the friction losses from a supercharger, why not eliminate all that useless nitrogen and run oxygen?

you forgot the   ( sarcasm )

unless of course you want a blow torch with the pure Ox.... the nitrogen is the "working fluid" in the mixture. Without it expanding the piston would just burn with pure Ox.
