Current Barometric Pressure at Bonneville?

Anyone measured the Barometric (atmospheric) pressure is at Bonneville yet this year?  I have a team up there running a Normally Aspirated Gas engine that I'll be remote tuning, and I'm curious how much lower the Baro is up there so I can get an idea of how much my tune-up will be off before I get the datalogs of each run...  Just trying to plan ahead!

You can get the local barometric pressure from the National Weather service on this page (these are corrected to sealevel pressures not station pressures so you will have to adjust for altitude)

Also the fuel trailer posts the actual station pressure on a board by the trailer so the team can stop by periodically and get all the relevent info like temperature, absolute pressure and humidity from them in near real time.

Interesting.  This was also a concern to the first salt racers 100 years ago.

A better gauge is the adjusted altitude information given on your timing slip.  Pressure flies all over the place during the day, but we had adjusted air densities between 5800 and 7200 feet.

Isn't it easiest just to run a short datalog and see what your client's MAP sensor says?

Is that chart from ERC at a previous event, or this event?

This car in particular is set-up on an TPS vs RPM fueling strategy with it's ITB's...  No MAP correction at this point.  Once I have a log, I'll have the Barometric pressure, I'm just working up a tuning strategy at this point...

They can not move. Lands End Lynda said they are not

allowed to drive on the salt the way it is now.

Both are quite handy and allow you to do your own analysis of conditions. The second listing (NOAA) is for guys that are either flyers or detail types and like numbers.

At least this gives you something else to do while waiting for the flats to dry out via rapid evaporation (hopefully).

Brian since you are not in Utah the easiest, most accurate, and dependable source, is to call the FAA's AWOS* station at Wendover airport. The information is updated no less than 4x/hr and it could be as frequent as 5-10 minutes if there are rapidly changing conditions. You get temp, density altitude, pressure, visibility, etc. I just called 435/665-2521 and the number is good. The altitude of the track and the airport are within 15 ft of each other.

National weather stations and other links get their pressure data from the closest airport unless they have a special source even closer to their reporting point. However, you can not depend on their update frequency. With AWOS or ASOS you bet your life on it.
