What happened to reports of the salt conditions on Speed Week 2014?

Could we please keep this thread alive through October? I know a lot of people are contemplating making the mythical October trip, so any weather/flooding updates especially by locals would be golden!
Thanks, Jim

Ok Jim, here ya go.

This picture was posted on Mike Cook Jr. facebook page 20 minutes ago. He and Tommy Roberts are in the process of draging the international course. Below is his words ....

"Will the 500 mph mark fall well if it dose this is the piece of ground that it will happen on !!!!!!!!!! We have to stop here every time we pass it with the drag and drink a beer !!!!"

Thanks, Dynoroom! After seeing how much water there was at Speedweek, I didn't see how it could dry out by October. I looked at Mike Cook's FB Saturday morning, and the pictures show steady improvement.

Sitting in line on the access road waiting to get checked in. They are letting a few cars in at a time because the water is about a foot deep at boat ramp.
Glad I have a lifted truck but there is no way I am letting our support car go through that.

This morning's wet report from Wobbly Walrus:

http://www.landracing.com/forum/index.php/topic,6167.msg259887/topicseen.html#msg259887

FWIW, the start of Burning Man was delayed (including entry onto the desert) because of mud and standing water from "torrential rains".  http://blogs.kqed.org/newsfix/2014/08/26/burning-man-weather-forecast

Even boots on the ground can be misleading ...it's all relative...

Wobbly reported courses not good enough for 150 mph today , maybe 140,so  left salt and back to camp...

Meanwhile there has been a 221 mph world record set this am and Valerie Thompsons first pass over 203 ...
