Nathan, wouldn't it be said better to call it "major suckitude"?

Wow it rained .2" a week ago, it has been over 100 and windy every day since and it's not dry?

Wow! A rain-out in July. Has this ever happened before?

I heard it's dry-ish and the lakebed is likely to be open this weekend but having a couple hundred cars drive across it would likely cause those really crappy ruts that stick around for decades.  Better safe than sorry I guess.

Saw an interesting picture last night.  The lake bed was visited yesterday and from what I could tell from the pic everything looked high and dry.  Did we get bamboozled by the BLM?  Grrrrr....

I spoke with someone that was on the lake bed on Monday and was driving a truck, he said the surface was a little chippy however left a normal dust trail as he was driving.  Only saw water on the North end if I recall correctly.  He said it was very little.  Everyday out there since the little bit of rain has had daytime temps of 100F.

Seems like a bad call however perhaps it was the right one to make.

Yeah, what's right and what's more fun are always two different things.  Only good news was that I was scheduled for AM patrol.  :-D

Well, that will teach me.  I was busy finishing an issue of the Bonneville Racing News so I could bring it to the July meet.  I picked it up on Friday afternoon.  Saturday morning I had two dog classes to teach.  King Kong and I were packed early so we could jump in the SUV and head for El Mirage as soon as possible on Saturday.  I never thought of checking the website first.

I didn't see a single vehicle towing a LSR bike or car on the way.  I should have pulled off the freeway to check the Internet but I was intent on getting there as early as possible.  I got to the lake bed and found a locked gate.  I thought I had the wrong date!!  It hasn't rained for months in Hemet which is not that far from El Mirage.  The BLM building was locked and I was the only one around except for an occasional dirt bike camp outside of the lake.

King Kong thoroughly enjoyed the ride but wants to know why we didn't stay.  We are all packed for Bonneville.
