Fast Freddie Dannenfelzer's new streamliner
« on: July 08, 2014, 10:40:40 AM »
I've been hearing for a year or three that Fred has moved away from the lakester (no aero, big wing, 386 mph) to this new 'liner.  it has the same engine package, non-exposed wheels and a good bit of aero work.

I don't have anything further on it, so you're welcome to fill us in if you do have knowledge.  In the meantime -- well, if the lakester went 386, what do you think of the chances are, once things are sorted out, that Fred will be sporting a black hat by the end of the '14 season?

Jon, I'm pretty sure he's running without a blower in the liner. Wayno

Injected nitro, class C.

There is a video on Facebook with it running.

Stand back. It will smell strong, make your eyes burn and hurt your ears.

Probably go rather fast also.

George Fields, Tony Waters, Betty Burkland, Jay Roach, Torg, the Hoffmans,

the Markleys  and Chauvin Emmons all LIKE this beast.

Just another stunner with a Santa Barbara heritage.

GOOD JOB Freddie.

Awesome machine.

I'm an aero novice, so I'll post this only to be educated by someone: How will the sloped front end avoid digging itself into the salt at speed?

In re: the engine package -- I was just repeating what was expressed in the email that got the photo to me.  If no blower - just a healthy tip  of the can - I expect that Fred will manage to figure out how to get the car going fast anyway.

It's entered in C/FS with a 370" Chrysler.  Probably the same as last year's primered entry that made a check-out run if I remember correctly.

In the pits it was observed with a blower mounted on top.  Musta had a lot of clearance in it as you could turn the pulley with your fingertips.  Turns out the case was being used internally to even out the intake lengths (or ???).

it might just do the opposite--- that is why no less than TB suggest wind tunnel time for all cars who hope to go very much north of 300---

the AERO loads and their directions can sometimes astound even experienced aero folks--

like Mike LaF. sig. says--- Without data you are just another guy with an opinion.
