2 stroke oil in gas class
« on: June 23, 2014, 11:42:23 AM »
I did some searching and found an old post suggesting that for a 2 stroke to run in the gas class, that ERC guys were able to mix on the spot. Does anyone have any recent confirmation that this is correct?

Unless it's crazy, ambitious and delusional, it's not worth our time!

To keep the gas class honest we use ERC to supply the racing gas. They fill an empty tank to make sure you don't have anything in it. If you provide an un-opened can of two-stroke oil you can mix it when they fill the tank.
Well, it used to be Los Angeles . . . 50 miles north of Fresno now.
Just remember . . . It isn't life or death.
It's bigger than life or death! It's RACING.

Excellent, thank you.

BTW, I did send for an official response and look forward to confirmation of this.

My little bike's gas tank is under one gallon so I'll be topping off often. This promises to be a real big PIA. With that tank capacity I can't just mix up a gallon and pour it all in. Is it possible to have them fill a larger capacity gas can with my gas/oil mix and set it aside for me? That way I can add just the amount needed to fill up (like a quart or so at a time). Otherwise, I'm going to get stuck with a lot expensive and useless premixed racegas.

Yes.

Both the tank and the can can be sealed and an official can watch the transfer and reseal both.

Below was the official response I received.

"In Tech Inspection or at the Gas truck we can test the gas and then add the oil.We can then test the change in the gas to verify how the oil will affect the gas. Be careful of certain oils which contain nitro and other illegal additives."

Thank you.
One less thing to worry about.
Give me a minute and I'll think of something else to worry about!
