Save the Salt gets 2,000 tons of salt moved to Land's End
« on: June 21, 2014, 07:42:19 PM »
For a few months the StS Coalition has been planning to get those tons and tons  of salt moved from Intrepid (the mining company) to the race course(s).  And then people started to realise that Land's End was so bad - so muddy - that just getting out onto the salt itself was difficult without getting stuck.  And so, with a quick call to Roxanne (the BLM lady for Bonneville) to change the laydown location and off they went to move all of that salt.

If I remember the text that Ron sent along, this is the scene from the end of the pavement before the salt started arriving.  That's mud out there.

Get every last bit out of each load:

How soft was the mud?

And last of the photos is this one showing the improvement at Land's End.  Intrepid's corporate fortunes have taken a downturn because of drastic drops in the sale price of potash, so they have laid off a good number of their employees.  Nonetheless - hey, StS got some salt put out there for us all.

I've got some contact information for Save the Salt.

Finally:  Ron sent some captions along for the photos.  Unh, Ron -- I didn't copy them here.  Do you really want me to go back and put them up?

Thanks to all that helped fix the salt.  Let's look forward to some more salt being moved soon.
