Gus Jackson Graduated
« on: June 08, 2014, 10:02:46 PM »
Don (salt27) mentioned in the 2013 SpeedWeek Trophy thread that Gus's 2 timing tags showed up on his graduation day...  Don, the proud dad, mentioned in a PM that Gus is a Honor student and now the University of Oregon upped the anti with an academic scholarship so he rerouted and is heading there for college.

He is still on the hook for books, room and board but this is a tremendous help.

We remember Gus was also awarded one of the SCTA scholarships.

He is a racer, a record holder and an all around good kid.... Gus we are proud of you.  My buddy Ben is dropping by to congratulate you in person.  You guys should go out and have a good time  :-D

I sure hope he didn't learn anything in my shop listening to Stainless, John Boy, 4 Brl Mike, Poppa Salt, Stan Back and myself lying our asses off with a few expletives thrown in for good measure. No facts were allowed.
Good job Gus.  We broke you in well.

Stainless,
Thank you very much for your donation to the "Get Gus Educated Foundation." Ben and I get along quite well and I imagine he will come in handy when college fees are knocking on my front door. It was mighty considerable of you to send that my way and I greatly appreciate the thought.. and action.

For all you other folks,
Thank you for the congratulatory messages and wishing me luck on my future endeavors. Bonneville has had a huge impact on my life, and I know for a fact if it weren't for the positive atmosphere racers bring to the Salt Flats, I wouldn't be standing in the same place I am today. Thank you all for shaping my life for the better.

See you all at Speed Week (if not sooner),

Gus Jackson (son of Salt27

I would also like to thank Jon and Nancy Wennerberg for their donation toward the Get Gus Rich Foundation. They sent a gracious card my way in record time (see what I did there Jon).

Again, it's an honor to know all of these fantastic people and I am pleased with my father for getting me into such a cool sport.

-Gus
