1930 STR, Hobby Car Project.. Build Pics
« on: June 05, 2014, 11:12:40 PM »
Been collecting parts now, for quite a while.
I picked up the frame table from Skip Pipes, today.
Bought my trans parts from Willi at Kraut Bros Racing, a short while ago.
A friend mentioned I should start with an AA frame, so I found one out of Hemet.
Removed the cross members and stored it as I searched for everything else.
I've found all the sheet metal, just have to make the upper rear deck panel.
Also having mandrels made for the bead roller, to get the right shape, for that upper panels reveals.
The 400 sbc is in the machine shop, getting align bored and honed, now also.
Starting off with a production 400 block, so it won't be competitive in B/StR's, 203mph record.
But it'll be a good start to learn the Enderle8Stack Injection, get thru rookie orientation and do a little licensing.

I have some pics on my external hard drive an on my phone. I'll sort thru everything and post the other pics I have, soon.

The owner of the AA frame had a boom crane, to help load that heavy thing. Getting it out if the truck, took six people.

Hi J,

Great start with that frame.

Put the table to good use and take your time. You've got an excellent mentor, put him to good use. I'm excited to watch your progress, so keep us updated.

Definitely will. Thanks Skip. Was having difficulty posting pics last night. I'm going to have to get used to this forum. It's a little different than the hamb. I'll get it, soon enough.Adding images, seems to be easier with my phone.

Some rdstr qtrs I found, with the new patch panels already welded in, unfortunately. I'll undo all the horrible atrocities, and try to un-fudge, what's already been done. Lucky I know a bodyman

The Mdl AA was Ford's heavy truck line. Same mdl A trk cab, on a heavy duty frame.

Jay, I can't believe you went to the dark side-roadster! Lol!

Knowing your talents, I can't wait to see this build!
With sufficient thrust, pigs fly just fine. However, this is not necessarily a good idea. It is hard to be sure where they are going to land, and it could be dangerous sitting under them as they fly overhead. -- RFC 1925

My dad had a rdstr, when I was a  kid. That's how he met Stan Back. So I really didn't have a choice. It was written.

Started on removing the overlapping material, where they tried to weld in the new patch panels.

Put a little time in today. Welded in a strip, which makes more work. But I didn't want to deal with such a big gap.

Shrunk the woopy.. that's always fun

Finish up tomorrow
