2014 The Road Ahead for Nish Motorsports
« on: June 05, 2014, 07:51:10 AM »
I just completed the "2014 Road Ahead" for Nish Motorsports and thought that I would share it.  It's a glimpse at the plans of the team for the upcoming season as well as the candid and personal perspective of FIA records from a guy that has a couple and is, perhaps, chasing one.

Enjoy!

That is a 'must see' video.  I've felt the same way about the strangle hold FIA/FIM has on the record process.  If the time is certified and done in the time honored way of both directions, over the same real estate within an hour I don't care if FIA gives it their blessing or not and if it is going to cost that much to get an FIA record it is going to cut out a lot of people that could set land speed records that are just as real,

Quite a moving video, from an icon of the sport, motorsport is expensive, but that seems like huge sums of money.

Certainly time for Nish Motorsport to have their (another) day in the sun....

Go Frankenstein!  :-D

It is not about the money. They killed the motor, not the driver.

Stainless should learn something from this :-o

TN mentions a figure of $25,000 for an FIA record (I think).  Can anyone explain what this covers?

The FIA website now contains a number of documents to assist would-be record setters but, as far as I can see, there is no mention of the need to pay a fee.

Speaking from my side of the pond here. We enquired about the FIA record etc and the quote was $5500 per day.
The costs covered medical staff, evac helicopter and the officials needed to run the event.
Timing equipment and laying out the course.

Interesting, is that in our dollars?  No way would $5500 cover a days worth of all that here. Here if you just need a 30 minute medical ride in a copter it is probably going to cost you well over 10,000 dollars,

Sum, Motorsport SA  requires a $200 non refundable deposit with the registration stating the date/s you'd like to run but you have to pay the daily rate up front.

$5500 is almost 70 grand here which I consider big bucks and if you blow a motor on the first pass of a 4 day effort, ouch. :-D :-D

I raced with Mike Nish over here in the 80s. He was a cool dude and well respected. I hope the Nish family achieve everything they set out to do.
These are good folk.

Steak costs more in Tokyo than it does in Dallas, TX.

Maybe the same is true with racing records in different countries.

It's time to dump the FIA.
