This is a solid start.  At 150 signatures, the petition becomes searchable through the White House website, which will be of help to those who are aware of it.

But awareness of this request is still very much in the hands of us who consider it important.

Once again, here is the link -

https://petitions.whitehouse.gov/petition/help-north-american-eagle-team-bring-back-absolute-international-land-speed-record-united-states/53Zlsf8T

Please consider taking the time to e-mail this link to anybody who would be interested in signing it.  A link to your personal Facebook pages would also be very helpful.

The land speed racing community is not large, but there are many of us involved with this sport who are also involved in education, automotive and tech industries, and numerous other endeavors that walk hand in glove with the work that the NAE team is accomplishing.  It's important that they, too, are made aware of what Ed and the team are attempting to do.

And to our friends across the pond, THANK YOU, TOO, for your support and sense of sportsmanship.

I'm #53 but it can't cope with overseas Zip codes!

Ed can reclaim the record, then Rosco can be the first over 1000! "Comin' at Ya!"

Or I could follow through after posting this and make the topic into a "sticky" so it'll always pop up.  I posted it on Nancy's Facebook page, too.

Jon, that would be great.

Come on, ya'll - if the White House can receive over a quarter of a million petitioners demanding the deportation of Justin Bieber, we should certainly be able to raise awareness of an effort considerably more substantial than our national dislike of post-pubescent-poop-pop.

Ed, can you shake down your media and PR folks?  A little ink could go a long way.

Does anyone have an e-mail addy for our friends at Hot Rod?

Anybody a regular on the H.A.M.B. ?

Here it is again -

True - there are limits to a President's power - and I'm sure Johnson probably received a lot of similar requests to keep the Beatles and the Stones out.

But with regard to military and BLM lands, a preference on the part of the commander-in-chief can have a strong effect upon the treatment one receives from the underlings.

I suspect that those the NAE team are dealing with aren't against the idea of land speed attempts so much as they are finding it difficult to say "Yes".

Even a simple acknowledgement from the White House regarding what the NAE team is doing might be all they would need to have a fee waived, or extend an extra day to them, or set up a meeting.

We're almost half way to the point of reaching a searchable status on the petition website.  Once it's searchable, it's a matter of directing it into the hands of the media through press releases, correspondence, phone calls - the awareness will grow.

Until then, continue hounding your friends . . .
