Stolen LSR Bike
« on: May 18, 2014, 09:42:24 PM »
the below is from Face book via Jill Iverson

SCUMBAG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Someone stole our Harley Evo landspeed race bike at El Mirage during the night on Saturday May 17th. It's a 96cu.in. S & S motor. Five speed trans with kicker.

PLEASE look at the pictures and post as much as you can.

We had it displayed next to the motorcycle tech trailer with a for sale sign. Dave raced this bike last season and we thought that location would be an excellent, safe place to display it. It was stolen between Saturday night sunset and sunrise this morning. (05/18/14)
This bike was custom built by Dave Iversen and is ridden in a laydown postiion with the shifter and brake at the back axle. IT IS FOR LANDSPEED RACING, not street riding but could be reconfigured for street use.

The return of this bike undamaged without facing charges is on the table for a very short time. Let us know where we can pick up our bike. Your reward for doing so will save your ass from the landspeed family of thousands of members. It's a strong community of racers, riders and bikers, and will ALL of them will be looking for YOU

facebook post:

"""Jill Shannon

Good things do happen.
Everyone that took pictures of our bike and passed it on, all of the blogs that picked it up, full coverage on twitter and instagram.....worked. The pressure was enough to convince the thief/thieves who stole our bike to realize profit was not going to be made, more likely they were going to get their A** kicked if they tried. At 2 am this morning we received an anonymous call telling us where the bike could be picked up. A tow truck was sent to a location in the Victorville area and our motorcycle was in one piece with minimal damage.

OUR MOTORCYCLE WAS RETURNED!

This would not have happened without all of your help and support."""
From the bottom of our hearts, we thank you.

Another shot in the arm for regular people that want to help.  No matter how the bad guys heard the publicity about getting it back -- something obviously worked well.

Le's hope we never have to try recovering a stolen race vehicle again.

Then I saw Neil's response.  If you didn't manage to get the call identified on your phone I betcha the police and the phone company would be able to check their records and see from whence it came.  After all -- if the N S A can track Achmed's order for fresh dates and a pound of ground lamb burger -- they might be able to help you find the bad guys, too.

Good news for sure but now all I can think about is low lifes from Hesperia/Victorville coming out to the lake bed at night looking for stuff.
