so do the arms handle the side loads also?  or did I just not pick up the transverse?

     Yes a Panhard bar at the front, but the rear was a Roberts straight line motion linkage.

 I think the sprint car guys now call them a Jackob's ladder. I used the Watson design to locate the rear end in my SR
