Mock up motor
« on: May 17, 2014, 05:45:03 PM »
I'm looking for one of those foam mock up motors that has all the threaded holes for valve covers, headers, etc. I have been kicking around the idea of putting a small block chevy in ole Hank just to do a few shake down runs and get the car teched. If anyone has one I can borrow or buy it would b greatly appreciated! Thanks!

A plastic block for $350.  I'll keep using the real thing. LOL

How old would you be now if you didn't know how old you are?
If you can't race it or take it to bed - it ain't worth having.

I'll agree with Doug--- foam is light, but for that kind of
$$$ you may as well grab a junkyard block... Then use it
to race. I can get 5.3 LS motors complete for $600 in NC.
Not legal for Classic but more HP @ 300+ stock.

I agree guys! I remember, not so long ago, a fella could buy a running motor for that price! That's why I haven't pulled the trigger on one yet. Downside is small block chevys aren't as prolific as they used to be. And call me lazy, but I'd rather use a block I can handle by myself, especially if the thing isn't even going to come close to fitting!

The search continues... Any leads would be greatly appreciated!

LSR Junkie

PM me I have a plastic SBC. I used the cast iron junk block and heads for years but the plastic one is so much faster when I work by myself.

If you know any dirt track stock car guys check with them. I use an aluminum block and heads I got from a dirt car guy. Junk block and heads- easier to handle than cast parts.
