Which possible 400mph bikes will attend in 2014?
« on: March 23, 2014, 08:35:24 PM »
I'm planning to return to Bonneville this summer (2014), again as a spectator.

I'd like to see the first 400 mph run by a bike, but don't know whether those
few teams that appear to be capable are planning to try at Speed Week, BUB,
World of Speed,  Top Speed Shootout, or other event.

Any info from Mr. Akatiff, Mr. DiSalvo, Mr. Manning, Mr. Toseland, Mr. Wheeler,
or their representatives/crew members would be much appreciated.

Thanks, guys, and best of luck to all of you!

i would think that thay will "all" front at the "Shootout",, however some may run at BUB as its FIM approved, thay get to run (test and tune) both ways over the measured mile there,,

im planning to spectate at the "Shootout", bring it on,

The Bub #7 can't run at an SCTA/USFRA meet due to cable steering, so they won't be running 400 there.  I don't know if they'd be allowed to run at the USFRA test and tune event in July.  As for the others -- well, the 400 goal will be somewhat easier for any of them at the Shootout because of the longer track - and extra mile or so of run-up.  With that said, though, Sam Wheeler has a good chance at the 400 with his new motor, Rocky and the Ack bike have run at SpeedWeek a handful of times, and the others are just making their first runs.  400 off the trailer doesn't often happen.

So -- the Shootout will be my forecast for the highest bike speeds.  Not that they won't happen sooner -- but the Shootout, for sure. . .

there have been other bikes that have run recently with cable steering..... its a much bigger issue to why Denis doesn't run SCTA events....

Kent, I won't debate that for an instant.  I was trying to be PC (pubococcygeus).  As for other bikes running cable steer -- thanks for that tidbit.  I didn't know and thought it was unique to the Bub #7 these days.  As for the Castrol bike -- I guess I should have looked more closely when it was on display.

I had asked Rocky not too long ago on Facebook if he was going to run SW as a tuneup for the Shootout, it didnt sound like they were going to but dont quote me on that.

Don't overlook Eva.  Maybe has a wheel on a stick but sure not a car and it has a lot of potential.
