DLRA -- want your own thread on this forum?
« on: March 14, 2014, 02:35:06 PM »
It has(once again) been brought to my attention that we have separate threads for almost every land speed racing organisation/venue, but NOT one for the DLRA.  Do you folks in the down-under part of the world want one of your won?

It'd go by the same rules as all of the rest of the topics here - but you'd have a place where you could expect to have less clutter from other places/topics pushing yours down the list.  We'd all see it (if we chose to do so),  we'd all be able to comment, we'd all be able to post to it.  But - it'd be for the DLRA.

I'd take a poll, but -nah, just tell us/me what you think.  No, wait a minnit. Tell me what you think about having a DLRA section.

Yeah, that's better.

Thanks.

Since I pay ZERO attention to the myriad subboards*, except when it may take time to figure out which subboard to put a new thread into, it makes no difference to me.

Mike & John,

That is exactly what I do,"show unread posts ..."
Cuts way down on time and I am able to view only the threads I want. I start at the bottom of the highest page number, 2, 3 or whatever. A lot of pages to go thru following a week long trip somewhere.

Me, too.  That is, I click the "show unread posts since last visit" button and read 'em all.  If there's time I also will then click the "Show new replies to (your/my) posts" to see what I've missed when I didn't have the time to finish everything in one sitting.

But -- I try to read everything since I have the (assumed) obligation, as the head handlebar holder of the site, to try and see all the stuff.  Maybe I'll see the beginnings of a fight, or of a defaming incident, or something good that should be encouraged, and so on.  That's why I look at 'em all.

But - back to the topic at hand:  Should the DLRA have a thread all to themselves such as we do for EM, ECTA, etc?  I've been asked a number of times, and each time have passed the question on to youse guys.  And up 'til now I've always got back the strong feeling that those from the southwest part of the Pacific don't especially want to have the bother/have the extra stuff/whatever.  Just don't bother, they implied.  If that's no longer valid, oh Aussies and Kiwis, please inform me and I'll get something just for you - started.  I was asked today by a member of the Forum.  Now - it's up to you.  Thanks.

What they're doing is equally as unique as what's happening in Texas, Ohio or Sweden.

And while it could be argued that Gairdner is a lot closer to Bonneville as far as an overall racing context is concerned, the Aussie's challenges to even pull off an event separate them from the other salt flat.

I'd leave it to them, but I wouldn't hesitate if they said yes.

That said, their own boards are already quite good on the DLRA site.

It's like putting a railroad track thru the center of town.

We could keep them on their own side of the tracks.

Now isn't that original?  Give it a try.
