V8 Supercars
« on: March 12, 2014, 03:13:27 PM »
I was upstairs in the bathroom library and reading the March issue of Performance Racing Industry magazine and saw an article about Mel Harder, the general manager at CotA in Austin, TX.  He mentioned lots of racing activities including V8 Supercars - and added something that the track did for them so they could race at CotA.  He said:  "We had to build some special curves for them as basically an eight- to twelve-inch sausage-type curve, so the drivers could get the cars up on two wheels to come off the corner.  When the car would come down, they would be stable and pointed in the right direction."

What the heck is that stuff?  Sausage curve - especially 8 - 12 inch?  On two wheels so they come off the corner pointed the right way?

I haven't a clue.  Someone care to fill me in?  How 'bout including a video or three so I (all of us) can see what this guy's talking about?

Perhaps he meant "curbs"

The last lap of last week's race was fantastic, I wish we had this sort of racing in the USA.

Wow - real, honest to goodness professional racing with production based cars.

Haven't seen that in the states since Donohue drove a Matador.

Sadly, a long way from Production Cars! "Car of the Future" Equivalence formula, sequential shift rear transaxle lots of standardised 'common' parts....

Some COTF video's here

It is a very equal formula, can get a bit tedious on tracks where overtaking is limited......

Another thing with the V8 Supercars , only a few years to go-- and no more Falcon Vs Commodore racing. As  Ford and GM Holden are ceasing production here.

But we do have the Nissan , and Volvo in the mix now.

Hopefully Ford bring the Mustang , and Holden bring in the Camaro (It has been talked about in the media) , that may stop the Kia's and Hyundai's from winning the Bathurst 1000 ??

I can also report that the current SCTA President was at the Adelaide Clipsal 500 , he was able to enjoy some early qualifying before coming out to our DLRA Speedweek.

Sorry to hear that.  Visually, they appear more true to their pedigree than any NASCAR entry has for a number of years.
