Re-inspection
« on: January 06, 2014, 09:56:13 AM »
Rule book says that a body/engine class changere reuires a re-inspection. Question is does the car go through the New car line? the frame has the SCTA number on it, class change is from a coupe to a roadster.

When we do an engine change we do not go in the new car line...  Your change sounds a bit more serious then just an engine swap...

Thats why I'm asking, don't want to waste time in the wrong line. The new car line mind set is different.

Lets back up a step.

How do you go from a coupe to a roadster for a class change, what is your plan?

That line in the book is for re-inspection at the event after you already had the car inspected and want to change class.

So questions
Have you ever run this car yourself at Bonneville?
Do you have the log book to go with that frame sticker?

My opinion... you have a new car.. a roadster, your log book will show it used to be a coupe, but I would put it in the new car line... because it is a car change, not a body modification like going from production to altered by covering the headlights.

Oh, my opinion... well it is just that... how I would do it if I did it...

add.. Dan is on with some of the same questions... he types faster

I read the OP question as changing from a coupe to a roadster at the same event.

The car has run three times on the salt, and  has a SCTA number and log book. I removed the coupe body and replaced it with a roadster body. I did lengthen the wheel base fron 112 to 145".

That sounds like pretty much a new car built from parts of the old one.
