Update on 1954 Harley-Davidson supercharged KHK...
« on: March 01, 2022, 01:08:23 PM »
It's been a while... Not posted anything on me bikes for a long time but I do visit and read the messages...

I have been for the last 2 years rebuilding my KHK. It mainly involved swapping the frames from a one off with not enough Harley bits in it to qualify it as an M to a std 1954 KH frame so now, no doubts about the bike being an M to qualify it for the 650cc MPS-VBF class.

It is a bit late this year to attend Speed Week with it so I aim for 2023 which will be 10 years since our fasted run with it at 121.755mph

A few things have also changed in the engine dept: swapped the std KH crank for an S&S one I had in one of my Sportsters, plus beefing up the main drive side bearing. A more enclosing fairing should also improve the top end speed. I'll start it I hope at a few meetings here in GB to smooth out any glinches over the next few months.

So, it is only "a bientot" from me!!!

All the very best from Patrick in the UK...

I love it, but...
isn't that air intake deducting vehicle speed from velocity in the stack?

 :-D Maybe Jeff,

but isn't it the general set up on bikes since time immemorial?

We went 121.775mph with the same set up in 2013.

I can always cut the intake bell // with the longitudinal axis and put a small deflector at the end....

An angular (baloney) cut will significantly increase the size of the opening.........and a rolled lip will allow smoother flow. Bring two or more for trial.

Hi Old Scrambler...

In my wisdom, I refitted the air filter...

Like on the previous version, I'll fit a sort of air diverter on its side made of thin alloy sheet.

Working on another bike now, but will post updates when done.

Thanks for your interest...

Was supposed to go out today, but all the shops are closed, Easter Monday...

So I pulled out the bike from its corner and did the dam brackets...

No, Old Scrambler, it passes on top of the supercharger...

The supercharger's drive is a bit "out", but I can live with it, there's no other way!!!
