Times change Jon ............................................... and it's for the better. In those days we didn't know any better. My first race car had a single post roll bar and a fully upholstered sports car seat with a seat belt only and it fully met the existing rules.

In our neighborhood when I was growing up the Avanti was the "Vincent" of the American cars.  It looks like it was Andy Granatelli that made a lot of that reputation.

Andy Granatelli, Godspeed and RIP.

I love the USA. How much longer will we be a free nation?

For all his bluster and showboating he was a true car guy. RIP Andy.

Mr. Granatelli was also a member of the El Mirage "Dirty 2" Club along with membership in the Bonneville 200 MPH Club.
He entered both clubs driving a 1982 Camaro that could pass as a street car.
I'm sure Glen could tell us about the time Andy drove his Chevy Caprice with 3 magazine guys it to "check" the clocks at Bonneville. Seems to me they checked out pretty good, around 190 MPH!  :-o   8-)

God Speed Andy.
