There is a scientific calculation in order to predict the Quality of Texas BBQ. it goes like the following.

The quality of the BBQ is in direct proportion to the amount of beer that is drank while it is being cooked.

Our last BBQ saw 2 kegs floated Plus nobody knows how many 12 packs, turns out, it was OMG good.

16 Turkeys, 5 pork shoulders, 8 pork loins, 6 store bought Hams, 2 wild hams, and some chickens. Their starting to look good already

Grateful for a lot of things this year - especially this community.

I'll be particularly mindful of a friend of mine, whose son will be finishing up a tour in Afghanistan in January.

Kate's a vegetarian, and she will be having her Tofurkey - which actually tastes less bland than real turkey.

It's a low bar, those birds.

But we've been invited to her friend's house for duck this year - and I have ALWAYS loved duck.  It's been better than 15 years since the last time I had roast duck.

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone.

Many thanks to Jon for this website and the wonderful knowledge that abounds here.

Met several new friends from here and am looking forward to meeting many more in the future.

Thanks to all who gave me some very good and thoughtful advice when I REALLY needed it.

Well it's 10:30 AM and folks will be showing up for Dinner in a hour and a half or two. The meat is ready to come off the pit, but for now it's just polishing up with smoke.

We BBQ 2 times a year, Thanksgiving is the smaller of the 2, mostly family, others bring their meat over for cooking and then come by to pick it up for their own family Dinner. Then we BBQ for the 4th of July, That's the big one where family and friends and some folks I don't even know come by for the food, drinks, fireworks, party ...... mainly just a lot of fun. The 4th starts early on the 3rd and usually is well into the 5th before it's all said and done.

Way I see it, there's no point in living in a free country if you don't exercise a little of that freedom from time to time.

This is the day when We give thanks to God, Family, our service men and women, and all the patriotic folks, past and present, that makes this country so great.
