Nancy and I will be there, as I've said, and we'll be right across the aisle from the City of Burbank.  That's a good thing.  I've just completed making a bunch of custom shot glasses to give to those donors that offer up a good-sized handful of $$ for the site.  We haven't figured out the minimum yet, but we want to have something tangible to give to those that choose to help keep the site running.  C U There!

Are you taking any T-shirts? Or just a suitcase full of shot glasses

We didn't plan on taking shirts, but -- whaddaya have in mind?  Old Salt Talks shirts?  Some special GNRS shirts?  We won't have enough time to do much that requires blank shirts (takes a week or more just to get the blanks), but we do have lots of leftovers.  Give me a bit of help, sir.

I was thinking you might need packing material for the shot glasses, and you might be able to clear some of your old inventory... whole new crowd of folks... just a thought, don't know what restrictions you have on the booth, but a donation for any type of encouragement is still a donation...  :-D

Unless you have paid a premium you can not sell anything. At least that is what we were told.

Freud, that doesn't surprise me.  I'm hoping that as Stainless implies, that we can offer a premium in exchange for donations.  I guess I hadn't thought about the limitation on selling, but it doesn't surprise me.  I wonder if I should ask about giving the shot glasses away and hope it's okay, or maybe instead give them as premiums and hope nobody official gets a burr under his saddle about 'em. :?

     Jon,
I have a friend that does a lot of swap meet stuff. Things were slow at the big swap meet in Billings one year so he got a big tub and filled it with ice and beer. He had a big 5 gal bucket full of old rusty bolts that he sold for $1.00 each and you got a free beer with it. He had the most popular booth at the meet.

So - like I'd take a bucket of rusty bolts, and everyone that donates at least a hundred bucks to the website gets to buy a rusty bolt for a buck?  Great idea, Doug.  Thanks.

You'd still be selling something.

Guys have tried that years ago at swap meets here.  Didn't work.  The Alcohol Beverage Control people don't look kindly on it.  Let alone the promoter that may or may not have a beer license in jeopardy.

But Stan, I didn't say anything about beer, nor would I even think about having it at the booth.  And as for selling those rusty bolts -- alright, how 'bout if I give one away for every hundred dollar donation?  Would that be okay? :-D

Why not talk to the organizers and see if there's any possibilities of working the problem out with them. It's very possible you won't be able to because it puts a wedge in the door for others to ignore the proper arrangements. If that's the case then you'll have to use word of mouth or some other form of communication and do any transactions off the premises. It's a pain, but it's better than being run off after spending all the time and effort to get out there.

The answer may be to have an agent in the area but out of the immediate show property.

Enjoy the trip and the show.

Pete

I don't think there's a problem -- because we won't be selling anything, Stainless' suggestion about old shirts notwithstanding.  And my inventory of rusty bolts is a treasure of mine -- that's already been bequeathed to some of my special heirs.  I'm not about to let the stuff go (not to mention pistons with holes, crooked rods, rusted chains) to just anyone. :-)

What were you planning for the shot glasses... do the same thing for tshirts. Give the donator the option... it was just a thought for clearing inventory...
I know you don't, but I do

Oh - so you mean that if someone donates to the site I should give him shirts, glasses AND some rusty bolts?  Well, maybe, but I'll have to limit the number of bolts each donor gets.  Those things have value to many of us, yo know.
