Note to self:

1.  Don't go to Ballarat ghost town to look for SSS's namesake.

Ray,

Ouch. Sorry to see these pictures of your car. In case you did not make it to Ballarat, here is a video of what you missed.

Ray you win the GNRS tire problem award hands down.

In fact after seeing those picts I would be too embarrassed to even mention mine.

Congratulations, Don

I can't say that I'm real proud to win that award.  On the other hand, I'm glad that the story didn't just stop there.  I'm very grateful to be in a nice comfy motel room.

And I'm overjoyed that he is back in a motel.

At least his cell fone will work there.

Thanks for the link, Tom.  That was an interesting video clip.  As I understand it, Charles Manson had his hideout in that area...on the other side of DV, tho.

Yabut, Ray, did you see the crashed plane at the brothel?  We need a photo (else I'll have to furnish one).

Yes, and the rest of the pictures you took there can remain private  :-o.  I googled to see pictures of the plane but had no luck,

On another note (unh, how about B flat two octaves below middle C?) -- I didn't get any photos of the landracing.com booth/display at the show.  I'd like at least one so we can show Bob Clancy what it looked like.  He did the design for the banner and the handout sheet -- I'd like to let him see the finished product.  Nancy and I think the banner was good -- have any of you some opinions?

There's another one just behind Danny's shoulder! What a great opportunity to hear these guys venting their passions! You have to go where life takes you sometimes so I told these three and some others I have been living my life vicariously through them! Now to get a chance to help some of them ... just frosting on life's cake!

Note to self:

1.  Don't go to Ballarat ghost town to look for SSS's namesake.

2.  Don't take the word of Russian girl at visitor center who knows a "short cut" (supposedly 23 miles of graded dird, but actually more like 100 miles of Baja 1000.)

3.  Don't try to kid yourself that sleeping in the Burb on the desert is an adventure...especially without sleeping bag and mattress.

4.  Get wheels, tires and brake lines for Burb in scenic downtown Ridgecrest, Ca.

There is a reason that it is called Death Valley.  During February of 2011 my wife and I were hiking in a remote canyon not far from Ballarat.  She went up over a rock outcropping and I went around it on a ledge.  She fell.  We were alone with no cell phone service.  I got her to the car, and then on to Ridgecrest Hospital.  After a night in the emergency room,(sitting and laying on chairs, not in a bed) we found out that she had a crushed vertebrae.  I managed to get her back home.  We had her fixed here, and she is fine today.  The result is, we still hike, but no longer in rough remote areas.  We are just to old.

Finally!  The Burb is back and I'm gonna saddle up and ride outta here tomorrow ayem.

Just a few parts needed:  2 wheels, 4 tires (I wasn't quite ready for 'em, but I got 'em now), 1 brake rotor, 1 brake caliper and a front end alignment,  Nuttin serious, tho.  LOL!

I'm thinkin about gettin some white spoke rims when I get back home...but at least I can think about gettin back home now.
