I can't find where Ed Shadle said that he couldn't post his fotos but I will post them here for him.

One was from the GNRS last week and the other was from the Alvord Desert where he ran.

Glad to do it for your team, Ed.

Great shot of NAE on the desert.

Any idea how fast it was going at that point?

REALLY FAST.

Thanks so much for sharing those pictures, I wanted to attend but life got in the way.  Incredible craftsmanship, mega-kudos to the folks here and elsewhere who had the vision, energy, and skills to build those vehicles!

Those are great photos Ed. Much better than some I have seen on other sites.

Now I'm really jealous. Those pictures were beautiful, I wish I could have been there. Great job. Maybe I'll make it this year-maybe 2015. I got to make it back to Bonneville! I GOT THE FEVER.

Ready to drive (no trailer) 1500 miles to Bonneville and It's cancelled. NEXT YEAR. SEPT. ECTA RAN 144 MPH. GETTING BETTER. 2021 Ran 152 fulfilled a ten year dream to make the 150 club.

Wouldn't you know it -- here it is the last day of the show -- and we found another car we hadn't seen.  This car's builder wandered past our table this morning and asked if we'd take and post a shot of it -- because it's in a different building.  And therefore, without further ado -- here's John Weatherwax's (I think that was his name) '34 Ford, #114:

I know that John is to modest to post this himself but he (his roadster that is) won the "Best Engineered" award at the GNRS! His build is in the "Build Diary" section and he justly deserves the award.

Rex

Jim Knapp and his Barnyard Bearcat are here.  I'll get the car's picture in a little while, but here's what's on the back of his race trailer.  Does the sentiment sound about right?

A few of Nancy's choices to photograph, like this one -- like a car her family had when she was a kid (not all that long ago for her):

My family did not have a Caddy like this (although we did have a '54 Coupe deVille):

And then there are the silly/cool/fun kid's scooters and prams - of which we've seen a bunch in the past few days.  One like this, for instance:

Ok - back to the show.  We're still getting a good number of visitors at the booth here, and some of them have been kind enough to donate a few bucks to the cause.  I think we'll be able to stay online for at least another couple of days - maybe weeks. . .
Rex

The number 114 on the roadster was loaned to him by Jack Underwood, Jack's Garage.

I think he made a great choice.

THANKS JACK.

This link should work: https://plus.google.com/photos/111053800401265205999/albums/5975235518144600641?authkey=CJT2wJ2ou7eWyAE

Sorry some are fuzzy - jet lag, too much caffeine and 1/10 second hand-held exposures!  :-o

Note to self:

1.  Don't go to Ballarat ghost town to look for SSS's namesake.

2.  Don't take the word of Russian girl at visitor center who knows a "short cut" (supposedly 23 miles of graded dird, but actually more like 100 miles of Baja 1000.)

3.  Don't try to kid yourself that sleeping in the Burb on the desert is an adventure...especially without sleeping bag and mattress.

4.  Get wheels, tires and brake lines for Burb in scenic downtown Ridgecrest, Ca.

I can see the pin striping lines along the doors on the right side.

I didn't think you had time for striping at the GNRS.

Generally you have that done at the Ed Roth get together.

Ray you win the GNRS tire problem award hands down.

In fact after seeing those picts I would be too embarrassed to even mention mine.

Congratulations, Don
