Note the art on the front of the Turbinator.  I took this photo right side up - and the software here has made it crooked.  Turn your screen on the side, please.

And they go on and on.  More tomorrow, folks -- and I'll get the lighting right if I can.  Thanks for looking at these.  You really should be out here, though. . .

Slim,

Thanks for the great pics!!     For photos that come out sideways, edit the original in a photo editor (I use photobucket) by rotating in the needed direction, then save as a new image.    Substitute the edited photo to the posting.    The LSR site may shrink the photo to fit, but the orientation should be correct.

Thanks again for the photos of the show!!

Wouldn't you know it -- here it is the last day of the show -- and we found another car we hadn't seen.  This car's builder wandered past our table this morning and asked if we'd take and post a shot of it -- because it's in a different building.  And therefore, without further ado -- here's John Weatherwax's (I think that was his name) '34 Ford, #114:

Jim Knapp and his Barnyard Bearcat are here.  I'll get the car's picture in a little while, but here's what's on the back of his race trailer.  Does the sentiment sound about right?

A few of Nancy's choices to photograph, like this one -- like a car her family had when she was a kid (not all that long ago for her):

My family did not have a Caddy like this (although we did have a '54 Coupe deVille):

And then there are the silly/cool/fun kid's scooters and prams - of which we've seen a bunch in the past few days.  One like this, for instance:

Ok - back to the show.  We're still getting a good number of visitors at the booth here, and some of them have been kind enough to donate a few bucks to the cause.  I think we'll be able to stay online for at least another couple of days - maybe weeks. . .

I keep finding more to show youse guys.  Here, for instance, is an inside-the-canopy series of Jim Knapp's 3 Suzuki engined car.  It's kinda dark to show all of the motors, but look and you'll see 'em:

I don't know if you know how he hooks engines to rear wheels, but -- it's a chain drive to a jackshaft to chains to the rear wheels independently.  Hunh?  Three engines hook to this jackshaft, and one chain per rear wheel takes the oooomph to the tires.  I think you can make out the labels in the second photo.  This part of the car was an issue at the Shootout a couple of years ago - when the jackshaft was a tad off balance, or maybe it was tweaked a few degrees.  Anyway, it was a few hours in the parking lot at Carquest -- and he was back and struggled, worked, tried -- and finally got the car to his goal of 300.

Here's an interesting bike.  The new Triumph uses a pair of the big 3-cylinder "tractor" engines -- three cyl in line, gobs of torque - but the bike's build quality is something like a jewel.  Here's a shot showing both motors - could almost be a right-way mirror between one and the back -- it's that close.

And here's just one engine.  Nice job, hey?

Ah, you've gotta love the silly sayings and slogans out at the salt (well, in this case, wherever people race).  This is by a roadster.  Look at the center panel - writing on the salt surface.

Back to coffee, folks.  Stay tuned - the show has five hours or so yet to run.  Thanks for your interest - and support.

My Dad and I had a great time at the show!!!  It was great to meet Slim, Mrs. Slim, Danny Thompson, and the Target 550 crew.  It was amazing to see all of those LSR cars, and the occasional sound of a car making a high speed pass was a nice touch.  So much history, and amazing craftsmanship.  I'm still going through the 1200+ pictures I took at the show, but I will post them up as soon as possible.

WHAT a great collection of LSR vehicles!!!
And great racers.

On the right is the guy who owns the motorcycle land speed record, Mike Akatiff, and on the left his good friend Sam Wheeler who wants to take it away with a 400 mph + run sometime in the future.  Good luck guys!!!
