Beng, why don't you volunteer to ECTA and help put on the meets and see what goes on in the background and between events. The cost of permits, emergency equipment, insurance, travel expenses, trophies, timing equipment and expenses on updates and replacing damaged to equipment and having spares to continue the meet when something has to be replaced, in the end it is not a profit making business.They have a little money to operate on and if a event is rained out everyone loses.

There is no drag strip 8 miles long that needs grading and is made of salt.

If Bonneville was 8 miles of asphalt the fees would vary but would still have

to include all the course workers, 12 sets of clocks, and two ambulances waiting.

Big fun gets costly but generally it's only once a year.
