Head Chamber Coating
« on: October 25, 2013, 11:43:58 AM »
The coating we have used on our head chambers the last 2 years has a tendency to 'flake' at the edges of the chambers.

Last year we figured we ran lean on one run at the Ohio mile. This year, though, I know that didn't happen, yet the coating is flaking.

Does anyone have a recommendation for someone to coat these heads?

Thank you in advance!
With sufficient thrust, pigs fly just fine. However, this is not necessarily a good idea. It is hard to be sure where they are going to land, and it could be dangerous sitting under them as they fly overhead. -- RFC 1925

What coating are you using now? Swaintech? Finishline?  If the surface was not blasted to achieve a mil profile to allow the material to "bite" into the head, then yes, every coating will experience a failure at some point.
