Speed Week 2014: The Prefect Storm?
« on: October 01, 2013, 12:59:40 PM »
Just thinking out loud but due to all of the bad weather we have had and meets that have been canceled Speed Week next year could the "Perfect Storm" of fast cars and bikes. Treit and Davenport, Rob Freyvogel/NACA66018, Danny Thompson, Vesco turbine car, Poteet and Main, Sam Wheeler, maybe Ack Attack plus others I am sure. Could be a true "Absolutely do not miss" event for speed enthusiast.

Yeah -- for us screwballs.

Too little action, too much time.

I haven't checked, but I suppose you'll tell me to do so -- instead of answering my question.  What are the dates for SpeedWeek 2014, and are they posted?  I got an email (to the generic lr.com address) today asking the question -- and I'd like to point the guy in the right direction as well as tell him when it is.  Thanks.

The Shootout for this year had all the earmarks of being "the event" of the decade. Weather and now the idiots in DC have conspired to diminish the appeal. We will, as will the hard core racers, be in Wendover by the 10th of Oct. to do what we can.

Send positive thoughts to Mike Cook, cannot catch a break this year. He has taken a bath on this but continues to be racer positive and holds out to put this one in the books.

Rex, I think you are on to something. Not only do we have what looks like a plethora of potential high velocity vehicles, we now have a year to get whatever testing we can out of the way. I can't tell you how many things we decided not to do just because of time. I suspect now that there is another year to wait, we may go back and take care of a few of those items. It could very well be a very interesting SW '14 indeed...

Oh!  The second half of your question.  Yes, they are posted.

Thanks for the info Mike! I plan on being there... Good Lord willing and the creek don't rise, with Hank in tow!

It should be an awesome week indeed! There is some awesome potential that Mother Nature sidelined this year. Can't wait to see how things shake out!!

Someone that I forgot was the Nish family streamliner. With the new "A fuel" style engine potentially providing a 25%+ power increase would certainly make this car a 425mph+ potential. Anybody have an update on the Nish liner??

Yes.....Speedweek 2014 could be a BIG event...............but do remember....
Sam and Ack are racing for World Records.....that requires FIM Sanction......
and 2 way runs..............todate SCTA/BNI has neither...........that's why we have the Cook meet...................Right?
