As for aero on that thing, it will pick up the nose at speed. It won't push down. We have photos of our Sonoma at the mile with the air dam 4" in the air when we leave the line with 1".

What if I run a limit strap like an off road truck?

We were planning on that but moved on to another car. I thought it would help but also thought it might make the steering worse up near and over 200mph. I imagine it lifting the front end and once the limiters come in to play, it's lifting the wheels too??  Just a theory though.

We were leaving the line at Bonneville with maybe a half inch of clearance between salt and splitter. It wandered pretty bad near top end on the salt. Never an issue on pavement.

What about an air dam with a splitter like the NASCAR car of tomorrow had? I've been thinking about that as well.

A splitter can't extend beyond the front edge of the bumper by more than 1/4". See 4.CC.1

Today was the day. I received some actual sponsored parts. F-O-A shocks put together some coil-overs and a set of what they call emulsion shocks. They custom valved them for me based on suggestions from Rod (HVAC EXPRESS) and included coils for mock-up. I am fortunate that they are based here in Las Vegas and can adjust, rebuild and swap springs without having to send them out. They specialize in off-road but I guess the salt is technically off-road. The support is very much appreciated. Check them out at http://f-o-a.com/

but you should be able to slope it back
" to the back to the leading edge of the front fender well"

Then I would go forward to the leading edge of the bumper--- follow the bumper profile
YMMV

We ran a 1" or 3/4" splitter. Just some angle I formed to match the air dam profile.

I made some progress over the weekend. I'm going to wait to show pics after modifications are more in place but the front end is being located in the frame.

Great thread here, lot's of things to learn. The allowable frame notching and bed alterations are an eye opener, we were interpreting the rule book differently.

We'll be working on the small end of the engine range with our build. I look forward to seeing you at Bonneville in 2015

We got the turbo today and it is WAY bigger than I ever imagined. I don't think the pictures show how big it is but believe me it is a monster. I hope I can move enough air to spin this bad boy.
