College Football.
« on: September 21, 2013, 01:02:51 PM »
I'm a big football fan. I watch a lot of games. I've had two caps for about 20 years and my guess is that they're the only ones in South Africa. Guess what I'm watching right now?.  :-D :-D :-D
This is weird but maybe not to you guys.

It wouldn't be an autumn Saturday afternoon if there wasn't a college football game on the radio.

I've been an Iowa Hawkeye fan for years.

Probably the only Hayden Fry Bobblehead in Milwaukee . . .

Minnesota is on now. Shortly I will be watching South Dakota State against Nebraska. Good chance of an upset there.   Go Jackrabbits!

Just turned to the hawkeyes for Chris!

Good on ya, Trent.

There's only room for one BIG RED in the Big Ten, and that's Wisconsin.

I'll pull for ANY team going up against the Huskers.  And I just looked it up - the Rabbits are pretty solid this year.

Brett Dillon down at KHYI-FM in Dallas is a big Huskers fan - nothing would give me more pleasure than ringing his bell on such an upset!

And now, one of life's imponderables -

How can the NCAA expect to credibly enforce an academic ineligibility rule if the Big Ten has twelve teams?  :?

Trent -

Ouch  . . .

But be encouraged - the Jackrabbits played better against Nebraska than Western Michigan played against the Hawkeyes.

Go Jackrabbits - Go Hawks!

I remember in 1984 when Iowa played Ohio State.  Hayden Fry took his team on a pre-game tour of "The Shoe".  He stopped at the 50 yard line and asked for a moment of silence of his team for all of the teams that had been buried there.

Iowa won 18 to 10.

It doesn't happen often.  Ohio State has a track record that Roger Penske wishes he could own.

Absolute respect for the Buckeyes.

But Fry was one helluva coach.

This reminds me that it is time to watch our local team, Portland State U.  The team is so-so.  The cheerleaders are a lot better.

I had to go to a wedding so I recorded the second half. This is two meetings with NE that SDSU has started out strong. Strong enough to impress/scare the Husker fans. This school has only been D1 for a few short years so the program is coming on strong. We lack the experience playing in these huge stadiums with the noise and hype. The stadium they play on is smaller than most large high schools! They will get there but it will take time. Meanwhile that half a million bucks will go a long ways for the athletic department!

Did I open a can of worms again?. Gregg, thanks for the offer and I'm sorry Pete. MM, that bobble head is cool and guess what?. I never got to see who won. Fell asleep again. The project is eating me alive. So who did win?. Must have been NC because the GA defence looked a bit  weak.

Not College but I just watched the Bears beat Green Bay. I'm a Cheese head of sorts (long time Favre fan) but I like the underdog too. Backup QB had the game of his life and the coach made a big statement.
What's up with Miami. Are they eating their young down there?. :-D
