World Finals 2013
« on: September 16, 2013, 02:24:33 AM »
For all you LSR fans who didn't get enough salt this year - World Finals is still on.
The weather forecast is good for the foreseeable future and we are still positive that the water that plagued everyone else will dry up.

We will keep everyone posted via the SCTA website, this thread and via the email newsletter. Cross fingers!

I'm not sure if this is the best place for this information, but because the event is coming up soon and folks are making reservations for lodging - -

When I was out at Wendover for the postponed Shootout I saw that the motel that WAS Day's Inn ( I think it was -- never did stay there) -- has a new sign saying that it's being converted to a Best Western.  The place looked like it was open for business, but I didn't see any Day's Inn signage.  As I remember, the Day's Inn did not do very well in the Forum's comments about lodging in Wendover.  Maybe it'll be better this way.  And speaking of lodging, the work is still going on at the Red Garter.  The rear of the place is still just bare structural steel, but the front facade is more complete looking.  Again -- I didn't go in for an inspection or meal -- but they're still working on it.

Finals is coming up, right?  That's it -- keep a positive attitude.

I sure hope we are. Wow, from being a salt virgin prior to SW to possibly being on the salt twice in 1.5 months, I must have salt fever  :-D

Should I be concerned that my check hasn't posted yet?  Sent my entry in on 9/6/13.

No.  JoAnn usually does not cash WF checks or hit your credit card until the event actually happens.  If you need a warm fuzzy send an email to the SCTA office.

Since we are 2 weeks out from racing. Has anyone heard of the condition of the salt?  Is it drying?

Yep Stainless has the facts as per usual  :-).  I talked to her yesterday and that is exactly what she said.

Hooley's Stude is entered so we will be there and hopefully ready to run much faster than my license runs.  We quit when we felt we hurt the bearings, but that wasn't the case after Hooley tore the motor down some.  He did find out we were about ready to blow the head gasket so it looks like it was good we went home.  He feels he has that fixed for now, but will probably o-ring the block over the winter,

Sum

Time is getting short.  Would it be possible to have FIM, FIA, and AMA folks at world finals to time folks running those classes?  In other words, an entrant would enter and run for an SCTA record and also be timed for the other records if they made prior arrangements.  Sort of a combined WF and shootout?  Just curious, that's all.
