OK everyone let's all start speculating on the max speed that the JCB diesel streamliner will go at Speed Week. And in keeping with Doug Odums refined tastes and good thinking the prize will be an RC Cola and a Moon Pie.

Start guessing.

Of course this is a "calculated" guess, but I'm going to say... 297.50
I came up with that figure after eating way too much Chinese food ( The first 5 numbers on the back of my fortune wink ).

I am going to give the Brits the benifit of the doubt and figure that they are going to really have ther sh_t together and say 375+ at speed week.

At speedweek I feel sure the JCB team will build speed slowly.  I do not know how testing is going in the UK, but at Bonneville the driver is a Rookie and will have to go through orientation and speed build up before hitting big numbers.

How long will the lines be for the long course?

I would expect Andy to get into the 200/250mph speed bracket by the end of the week - so lets go for 237 mph.

LLLLoooooooooooonnnnnnnnnngggggggggg smiley  smiley  smiley  cry  But that said I thought the lines moved along pretty smoothly and commend Glen and the rest of the guys for their efficiency Cheesy .

The lines were long last year, but we still managed 2 runs on Sat. and Sun..

If you are in line early you just might make it back into line in time to run last thing in the evening.  I think Sat. we were the 1st or 2nd car down the long course and about the last one down that evening.  We weren't in the pits long between runs.

With an operation like they will probably have I would assume one run Sat. and one run Sunday if they setup pits on Friday and get through inspection on Friday.  Monday on multiple runs get easier, but it depends on prep time between runs.  Of course then there can always be the weather factor, but I force myself to not think about that.

Here in SE Utah we have only gotten a little rain in Feb/Mar since last fall and none since April.

Is their "private time" immediately following Speed Week?

Long course lines shouldn't be as effected as the short course with the licensing of all the new drivers/riders.  And then you gotta qualify for the long course, too!

Streamliners are in the minority when it comes to new entries this year.

376 mph...  I am a firm believer in the Brits and their ability to design and build cars for Bonneville... they have a rather serious history of going fast.

I've also seen them fall on their nose... but benefit of the doubt goes to our Friends as always.

That's very interested - the latest picture from news shows the streamliner with a modified air intake (on the left side of the canopy) for the rear engine.
Will keep my speed number wink
Who changed this??? And what else change this guys since the first presentation? I'm looking for to see the real streamliner at Bonneville.

see ya

Since they have private time following Speed Week, in my opinion they won't be "balls to the wall" during Speed Week.

I think 341 would be satisfying during Speed Week.

In view of the indication that the JCB team will be running on FIA rules too they could have their yellow and black machine prepped within one hour ready to run again.

Car is making a series of static displays - Goodwood Festival of Speed, RIAT I believe and London Motor Show - before it gets to you.  Of course they may have two ....

The Speedweek event is a happening and not the fastest way to go fast.
It is the publicity and exposure that is the objective.
Wanna buy a shirt ?
Running that thing at Speedweek for anything more than a leak check is not in the cards.
If nothing else SCTA will want to keep the distances within their fence to suit their style and control the crowd that is already way big.
A limited, true International meet would be best for the sport but money talks.
