Streetbike Shootout minimum prep rules?

*Where can I find the rules for the "Streetbike Shootout" happening Sept. 28-29?  The ECTA website shows the following: "All bikes must pass the ECTA safety requirements."  Which means what exactly?

I have a 1998 CBR1100xx (tagged, insured, street legal) that is mostly stock except for a full Yosh exhaust and aftermarket PM Wheels.  Do I need to safety wire?  Do I need a steering damper?  Anything else?




*I searched here and checked the SSB website for clarification and found only outdated, vague information.  I also have a 2006 Rulebook, but there is no info about the "Streetbike" class.

all vehicles / motorcycles need to pass tech as per the ECTA rulebook.
your bike will fit into a class, those class rules are the rules for all racing including the street bike shootout.
you get the rule book with your membership.

some points of interest

steering dampener over 125mph
speed rated tires, for your class, they will check the tire dates
all safety items that are applicable

rookie orientation, and 125 mph pass

etc etc etc

do you have a rule book? that's the best place to start.

Thanks for your reply.  I have an '06 rulebook, but what I had read about the shootout gave me an impression that there was a separate ruleset for that "class".

Nope, safety requirements are MINIMUMS. What are you worth to yourself. Your bike and your equipment will be teched to your bike's capable speed, not "I'm just gonna run 150." For the bike you listed that means the same requirements for the over 200 crowd. I'm just joining this year tonight so don't have this year's rule book; but in the last seven years, even though it was not specifically stated, also add a hardshell back protector. I'm pretty sure membership is required -- you'll get current rules; join soon.

Problemaddict, if you are the right size, I might be able to get someone to take my stuff up to you as a loner. If it wasn't for help from others, I couldn't have done my first event. I have seen friends slide and now I wear armored gear on the street as well. You would have to supply your own boots and helmet. Good luck!

New guy here on a 2-T 125. A point of interest for me when prepping was the kill switch lanyard. I can't seem to find the right switch type locally. Any idea if there will be any available for purchase at the event?

Johnny, the cheap ones gave me a lot of trouble.  It pays to get a good one like a Pingel.  I got it from Tiger Racing.  They support this website, or they did when I bought it.
