I just talked with Junior and his dad -- it's 10.40AM Eastern time Tuesday morning. Here's the story as of now:
The Cook family has bought and drunk all of the Maalox in Wendover/West Wendover. Does that tell you anything?
Seriously: Mike reports that the wind was very strong overnight and blew the water that had been near the mountain -- over to the course at the 1-2 mile area. But that's a good thing -- because it's moving, and that means it's drying. It's cloudy now, and that isn't helping the evaporation, but the wind is moving the water.
No standing water here, damp salt there, dry the other, wet the other other. 6 & 7 damp, 8 - 12 dry. The water that had been blown around through the notch in the dike - has ended up on the course, but then -- that's good 'cause there's no ore water on the other side of the dike and therefore it can't get out to the course to make things worse.
Still with me? Right now it's not likely that we'll be able to race starting Thursday morning, I guess, but -- maybe Friday, maybe Saturday. The course has been surveyed, as we saw in yesterday's posts, and Junior and Tommy are going to start putting out cones and flags/signs this morning.
In toto (not Dorothy's dog, by the way): Not yet, but still looking good. Stay tuned here, folks. Mike Cook is using this site as a main avenue to let you racer fans know what the true story is, and I'll do my best to keep up to date for you.
See you on the salt (but just in case, have your boots with you).
