This is not much help; it points the wrong direction, and no date/time stamp.
Appears to be standing water out beyond the runways, and "Refresh" doesn't do anything.
Light and shadow might indicate somewhat near the middle of the day.

Well, it used to be Los Angeles . . . 50 miles north of Fresno now.
Just remember . . . It isn't life or death.

I'm back in town at the motel.  I sat at Land's End for an hour or two - shooting the breeze with a buncha racers.  Who woulda thunk I'd find racers there?

Well, when I got there I posted about being able to see perfectly smooth water as far as I could see towards the dike, remember?  When I left -- allowing, of course, for my blankety-blank-year-old eyes but brand new glasses - I swear I could see some detail on the farthest horizon -- like maybe the water was moving away from the dike and towards the paved road.  There was a very gentle breeze that could be responsible for that movement, so maybe, folks, just maybe.  But then - I haven't looked at the weather report in the past few hours.

Junior and his dad weren't there when i was -- so there's no new official news since my report of two hours ago.  I do want to get a photo from Land's End -- to give some credits to Varta and LucasOil and even USAC and the other sponsors and sanctioning organisations.  I might visit the airport hangars to get you some stuff from there, by the way.  I got a visit from David Cooke of the OSU team, as I said, and I'll go see the Venturi car.  And the Bub #7 is there, and I suppose there'll be others.  I see the Jack Rogers transporter parked at Mike Crawford's, so I presume that at least Steve Strupp is in town -- maybe Jack, too.  I'll keep you folks in touch.

SSS.....THANK YOU very much for the  REPORTING....

AND.....if you would be able to POST PICS of the RACERS and VEHICLES
as those teams ALLOW...IT WOULD BE SWELL....!!!!

for MANY reasons....it allows the many feverish other racers following, and those they know
able to see them in their beauty, allow for admiration and contemplation...

AND allows for the world to see their presence....who the sponsors ARE (as you indicated so very important to many
aspects of these LSR meets)......

that may shift focus abit on course conditions this and that...of which there is little control....

maybe even be able to share any INSIGHTS from the teams like changes and other such technical stuff
that they may be willing and proud to share to also give props to various entities that deserve mentioning and
recognition....

SSS, I greatly appreciate all of the updates here!

Sadly, due to my limited time off of work, I just cancelled my room for the weekend. Mother Nature calls the shots, and as much as I'd love to see all of the amazing vehicles at the shootout, it's not gonna happen this year.

Best of luck to all the racers! I hope the weather cooperates and you all can make some runs Monday!

Meanwhile, I'll be thrashing on my own car and making plans for World Finals in a few weeks.

This is the Wendover Peak cam. You can control it. The picture was from today at 3:24 PST. Floating mountain on the left. Land's End just to the left of the pole.

Dean......please identify the cars and people.

I only have a 27" monitor and I can't enlarge the image enough to ID them.

I tell ya what I'm goona do.  I'm gonna go out there and see just what's what.  And maybe Dean can trigger the camera at just the right time -- for me to drop trou and allow the world to see ALL of my tattoos.  Dean --- I think you've got my phone number -- give me a call in about a half hour and let me know when you're ready to click the shutter.

For the rest of you -- don't worry, I'm not risking much by offering the Tooele County Sheriff Dept a chance to see me in the altogether.  i won't, really -- just teasing.  After all, there's likely to be a crowd out there (I know lots of folks here in Wendover are reading this topic) and I don't want to start too big a riot.

But I am going out there to take a late afternoon look-see in person.  I'll be back on this Forum when I return.  I'm not taking the 'puter with me -- stay tuned about an hour or so from now (at the earliest) for my update.  I've got a call in to RtR for a supper engagement -- but he's not answering.  I'd sure hate to miss high tea at the Red Garter. . .
