"Crew" versus Spectator access?
« on: September 03, 2013, 12:10:08 PM »
I have some family flying out to WOS on Friday night, who will be attending WOS over the course of the event.

Is there a different level of access for designated "Crew" members versus general admission?

I'd like to have the family have full access to the pit/trailer area.  Do I need to do anything to designate them as crew?  I have them listed on the Radio Announcer's Form, but that doesn't really seem like an "official" document.

Any feedback would be appreciated.

Don't worry about it.

Seriously, don't worry about it.

Thanks, Chris.  One less thing to worry about.

As Chris said dont sweat it Steve,   :-D just relax and have fun. Being SW was my first trip to the salt I was amazed at how truly laid back the whole thing was. Have fun and being safe.

The following is from "Hugh" the treasurer of USFRA;
We invite all firefighters, law enforcement, veterans, active duty and all active duty or reserve service personnel to enter the event at no charge.
If you like the show, please visit the t-shirt or other vendors, and take home a nice souvenir.

Enjoy the meet; just stay back from the starting line, don't walk in front of working photographers.
Remember, there are giant bags of HP just wanting to be unleashed.
Most folks are happy to discuss their project, if they are not in a thrash.
Common sense should rule that one.

Last year was my firs time at WOS and I was wondering the same thing. Turns out this event is more like a big autocross than a big circuit race where the garage areas are fenced off and spectators have to stay in the stands. At WOS you can wander around the paddock and staging areas, see the cars up close, talk to the people who build/run them. It's a very casual and friendly affair.

I think that everyone should have equal access now, as long as they bring a very shallow draft boat.
