Salt conditions at Bub Trials?
« on: August 25, 2013, 09:21:01 AM »
Has anybody heard anything about the current (08/25/13 am) salt conditions?  Although I'm not a bike guy, I know there's been some rain on the salt recently, and the Bub Trials are supposed to start today.  The Bub website hasn't been updated to include anything on current conditions, and the voice message number it listed to call for conditions goes unanswered.

As I said, I'm not a bike guy, but I am puzzled as to the lack of information about Bub here.  So, is this site on Bub's fecal manifest, or vice versa?

Trim, they are racing.. I'll call one of the folks out there later and ask, if it is bad, watch this space, if it is OK, I won't post back.

Ah, remember the good old days? Like, last year. When we had a live feed.

I'll bet we will be lucky to have a dozen posts and the results won't be up until next week.

Only a few pages leading up to the event, and not even a BUB 2013 listing.

Sigh, it's tough to be spoiled.
Well, it used to be Los Angeles . . . 50 miles north of Fresno now.
Just remember . . . It isn't life or death.
It's bigger than life or death! It's RACING.

We are planning on a live feed at WOS.

Glen, Ruth and I missed seeing you at SpeedWeek.  Hope you can make World Finals and I'll enjoy listening to you at WOS online,

OK I lied.... called Martyn, he and Trapper are racing the bike at the Bub.  Marty says the salt is better than speedweek.
Sometimes a little rain helps

First time ever on the salt for me, the salt is super smooth, I was very surprised, I'm running a rigid rear and 2" up front and zero issues handling wise

We just ran our first run ever, 112 on a 92 record, we are going to do a return run but if successful will probably seal the engine as we are confident of doing better.

Will drop the mains from 840 to 820 next.

No liner runs yet apart from the electric one, both the BUB liner and the Triumph liner were at pre stage but wind too high

is there any way to get result from the BUB event?  Would love to see what is going on.  Did Denis run his liner??

The site I use for weather has broken down and doesn't show current conditions in Wendover -- rain, wind, temp, humidity -- nothing.  Any reports to share?

I don't know if this will help; Weather.com for Wendover shows 87 degrees high now 82 degrees, 20 % chance of rain , wind at 12mph from the southeast, and the map show it clear at Wendover and at the race track, the only rain it shows is near Orem south of Salt lake City.

Slight headwind on the return and a density altitude of 250ft higher meant our return run was slightly slower at 109 but still got us the record. We've decided to take a chance and have the engine sealed to try and better the record as we feel we have another 10-20 mph in the bike. If we blow the engine before it is  inspected we lose the record, but this way we don't have to tear down after each record run, not until we feel we have achieved as much as we feel we can. We're running very rich, so dropping the main jets from 840 to 820 to start with.
