Amo Steele 191mph, sounded like another tune up run only going thru the 3 and pulled chute before the 4.

#420 Got Salt racing BGL pulled the chute around the 2 mile, appears to be another tune up run.

Yea Ray don't run those wide tires we were only able to get a 280mph 21/4 and 294mph 1st mile time blowing before 3 mile trap in 2011. :-D  A/blown GAS altered

 Everyone should use skinneys :-D

We did have a 288 mph with a 279 exit speed in 1994 at World of speed when overdrive slipped, should have used those skinney tires and gone real fast

Yea you gota listen to the EXPERTS :-o

JL...just think how fast it might have gone on skinny tires...

JL...just think how fast it might have gone on skinny tires...

What is interesting about this whole debate is that the only car that has gone as fast in the first mile was the Leggit/Lindsay firebird that had skinny tires on it, but had twice the HP.

JL...just think how fast it might have gone on skinny tires...

joea...just think what ANY drag car with over 500hp would do with skinny tires on asphalt.

Hey.. been there and done that in 1958 when my brother and my blown Olds street roadster got sideways on me in the traps at San Luis Obispo drags at 121 mph from spinning the 6'' drag tires.

There has been a real fast Firebird with skinneys but the amount of weight used to hook up grossly overloaded
the weight rating of the tires. Something the SCTA/BNI looks the other way on.

Here's something else to think about Joe, that 294mph ist mile was an average, top speed was 318 when it blew
just at the end of the 3 mile and before entering the 4 with 2 more miles to go.

Yea listen to the EXPERTS

Guys, like Ray I don't have a dog in this fight, but this topic has been beat to death on this site. This thread is about Bonneville Speedweek 2013, let's just sit back and enjoy the topic and the live feed. Thanks for your consideration.

We have a wind hold on course 3 & 4.  It's at 18-24 mph at the timing stand. I just heard James say that they'll hold above 15 if it's a cross-wind.

Meanwhile, back at the racing, here's a shot of the helicopter ("no fixed wing aircraft, yada, yada...I guess rotary wing birds don't count) just before he landed...haven't seen it since.  Nor have I seen that truck that was dragged off the course.

A shot of the Salt Cat II on a qualifying run.

The 1810 Camaro was pushed off from the line with fuel problems and was soon joined by the Contrivance Engineering roadster.  Startin to look like a used car lot.

Plmkrze,

Don't know if this will help you or not but I have been having problems with my server timing out. So I just hit my refresh button and if that does not work, I disconnect and reconnect to my internet provider and the feed come right back on. Also this is the right link,

Hope this helps,

A few more before I go to the short course starting line.

Papi Chappelle on his Ninja,

The gorgeous Mariani 34 Ford roadster followed by a guy who spotted something falling off the Mariani push truck and went to pick it up.  It turned out to be an ice bag.

Finally, an interesting creation, an M151A1 Jeep, converted to a 6x6 with a Chevy Ecotec motor and TH350 trans.  For those who might have had anything to do with the 151s...well, my fondest memory of 'em is jumping out of one just before it went on its head.  Their swing-axle design was far worse than any Corvair Ralph Nader coulda killed.
