Modified Class rules
« on: August 05, 2013, 11:43:07 AM »
I believe I know the answer to this but... There is a little confusion by my uncle on this and I want to make sure I get the right information to him.
In the M class no streamlining is allowed even the factory fairing and bodywork correct?
In the MPS class factory type fairings and bodywork are allowed.
In the rule book it just kind of mentions it by saying M is an open class, I wish it said no streamlining, unfaired, naked?, etc. because open can imply too many things to me.
Thank you,
MJ

Production... if it came with a fairing it must run it

Modified... no streamlining

Modified Partial Streamlining... running with any device that streamlines the air...(like headlight turned backwards) or fairing.

Hope this helps

MJ, the class designation must be displayed on the bike.  Bikes in your class can be identified in photos using this.  You can look at the pictures of bikes on Scooter Grubb's website, and also order the yearbook he publishes.  Those photos are a good reference when you want to see what configurations are allowed to run.  Also type "2013 BUB Speed Trials photos" into a search engine and all sorts of interesting things will show up.

they also show illegal record-setting motorcycles.

the record stands a month after the event. illegal fender and all.

no John, I'm not talking about you. but that bust my balls I'm lol out loud.
it was in 07. or 8.

I was going to have my rear fender built with an aero hump when
I got home from the bub. so I say to the tech~~ I'm going to shape it like ( from Europe )
-- in this picture on land racing.com.  oh no ¡ you can't do that , that's illegal .

oh, I say. so they're going to have their record retracted ?
oh no, that record stands. the next event that rear fender in question was changed.
I don't know about their partners rear fender with the w3 fueling. maybe the w3 was theirs.

I'm very disillusioned over a few things.
Fritz ( God rest ) says to me-- ('07) -" they must not want me to have any more records ".
cuz, they let me sit here in this Q all day yesterday. and here we are lunch time one day later and I'm still sitting here"..   ( by now I'm not very far behind him. 5-8 behind from that morning.)  to my dismay ; multiple return runs were being given on one qualifier. in the opposite direction, constantly shutting the track down. that fact I found out after the event. shame on me for being fooled three more times.

I do love the people ,many friends, the event per se and the salt.

Bubs 2007 was a total disaster. If they had done the same BS in 2008 I think it would have been the end for them. Luckily they got their act together much better since.  Not perfect but not bad. Now if they could just get the racers to be ready to go at the starting line when it is their turn and makes sure the radios work from all points I think they could really run the numbers through.

The streamlining on the Bonnie was looked over and measured real closely this year.  Real efforts were made to make sure everything was legal.

Same thing with our 2 bikes. I built them exactly to the rule book and they passed. Had to argue with the guy about our tail section though as it seemed he did not know how to read a ruler.  :?
