Once racing is over for the day,
1. Make sure all equipment is ready for the next day of racing,
2. Study the data from that day of racing,
3. Plan tuneup changes to go faster tomorrow,
4. Repeat step 1 through 3 over and over until it is time to go back out on the salt.

If you can keep your head when all around you are losing theirs....it's quite possible you haven't grasped the situation

Not only all of the above, including autographed picture of Andy Green, but quite a nice collection of various competitors  from many years of racers.
Who knows what one might find?

And to answer a previous inquiry, it was called "The Hideaway"20+ years ago.

Te Mexican restaurant at the tracks where the little street branches off is pretty good.

For someone from San Antonio or New Mexico to eat Mexican food in Utah is just not right, except breakfast. :-D

Went in there one night with George and Bill Scott and another guy(?).  We'd had a few.  We were in George's VW Thing and thought it prudent to take our doors to dinner with us.

As I remember it there were only two things on the menu, steak or pizza, good times.

A long time ago, late 50's or early 60's, the Hideaway was named by Jack Foster from Portland, Oregon.

He jungled with Jim Davis and they were in there having some suds. They were

the only ones that weren't locals and many were from the railroad.

Jack was talking to the bartender and said, "a lot of these fellows stay a longtime."

The bar keep replied, " They come down here to hide out before going home at night."

Jack's reply was, "This must be the Hideaway."  The name stuck.

It looks like the "Garlic and Onions" restaurant -- the one just across the tracks in Wendover, kinda behind the Nugget -- has changed names again.  We didn't go to look, but did see a sign pointing in that direction saying "Los Compadres" restaurant.  That place has changed names a bunch of times - who knows what it is now?  What was it for a short time - Mildred's - when they had scads of different hamburgers on the menu.

As for other things to do -- see the newly restyled Red Garter.  It's worth at least a drive by - if you remember what it used to be.
