Heading for the salt!
« on: July 28, 2013, 12:13:27 PM »
Finally getting back to the salt. Driving across country in my wife's Lexus and she knows nothing about the salt build up. Pray for me!
Anyone know if they broadcast the speeds on cb or other?
Maybe we will see some ECTA folks there!?

They announce on FM radio. When you ready to come back home, do yourself a favor and go the the car wash in Wendover and spend about $20 cleaning off the bottom of the car. When you get home, get it on jack stands and put a lawn sprinkler under it for days!!! Salt grows east of the Mississippi River!

The HS kids set up a car wash in the parking lot of one of casinos just past the state line (can't recall the name of the casino).  Anyhow, they do a nice job and get a head start on desalinization.  So far my SLC car rental company has been happy with the cars when I take them back.  Like Joe said, I'm sure a little further work would be a good idea for a car you intend to keep.

I'll be in Impound so look me up.  Sometimes I'm running to keep up with the customers but I often have time to chat.

It's the Montego Bay, Dan - and everyone.  That's where they have the in-town car wash.  I've also seen a group of kids at one of the small motels in Wendover.  that one I've used -- by donation, not a set fee.  I dunno about Montego Bay's washers.

The one at Montego Bay is by donation, too.  I pull out the floor mats and try to assure that they get the wheel wells, etc. so I pay them $20, which seems fair.  I rent a small car and I'd think a pickup or other large vehicle should be more.

Yeah, I know, that's no Lexus. Decided last minute to take my van, very glad we did, like riding around in your Lazy Boy! Spent several hours Friday and Monday on the flats and all day Saturday and Sunday.
If you have a motorhead bucket, this should be in it!
Met some neighbors from home ( Clementon/ Lindenwold, NJ ) if you guys see this post, reply or pm, should have gotten the info then.
