Vehicle Seam Tape Rules
« on: July 21, 2013, 01:29:34 PM »
Please be advised that the LTA is changing the tape requirements for seam taping of vehicles.

Painter's masking tape will no longer be allowed for taping seams on race vehicles.  All tape must be silver metallic tape, with our without fiber reinforcement, as used for stove pipes, duct tape, or tape with a high tac that is not pressure sensitive.

We will not be scrutinizing different tapes online or through email so follow the rule of thumb that if you put it on you daily driver for a week and it does not start to peel off, you can probably use it.

the reason for this change is that 75% of our stops during track sweeps is to pick up pieces of tape from 1 inch - 5 feet long.
