HELP PLEASE! Clutch Disc Question
« on: July 12, 2013, 12:36:41 PM »
Bob Brooks at AFT clutches did my last clutch set up, but he's out of reach today.

My old setup had an iron disc, 11"X 1-1/8" x 10 spline.

The boys are thrashing to get the car completed this weekend, so I need a new 26 spline clutch disc this weekend.

The only disc I can find that I think will work is a Ram 1363 sintered iron disc, that is 10.5" x 1-1/8" x 26 spline. Will there be any problem running the 10'5 disc in place of the 11" disc?

Seems like it should work to me, but I'd like to know for sure before we install it!

Thanks in advance!

I think it would work fine if it's the same thickness as your last disc.    Do you have a clutch shop anywhere near your town? In nashville we have a placed called Tn Clutch. They can build random discs with different hubs, splines, diameter, sprung or unsprung, 4 puck, 6 puck, etc...

Thanks Glen!

That number is for KC Payne at Centerforce Clutches. I did leave him a message, so I'll update this when I speak with him.

Joe, our issue is this turned into a VERY last minute deal. The tranny shipped in last night, and Dale, Randy, mark, and Chris are thrashing to get the car together this weekend. I think the disc will work, but would sure like an expert, or someone thas has done it,  to 'rule' on it

If the hub depth and disk thickness is the same from a profile view, and the internal diameter of friction material isn't much smaller than the 11" to where it might hang if you have a grooved pp or flywheel (i know, i am sure it has been surfaced, just throwing that out there) you should be fine. You are losing something like 5-10% of surface area, so if you were close to slipping clutch before, it may now.
