Sorry, no pics from me today from the track.
With the "iffy" weather this morning, I decided to do something completely different and went to see some other types of "Speed" machines.
With the trusty GPS guiding the way, I took about a 45 minute drive over to Dayton and went to the National Museum of the US Air Force at Wright-Patterson AFB. Got there when they opened at 9:00 AM and stayed till about 2:15 PM.
Really, nicely laid out in 3 huge "hangers" for planes from the WW1, WW2, Cold War eras and a "silo" for the Rocket era.
Of all the planes, my favorites had to be, just like the Smithsonian in Washington, D.C., the P51, the "Bockscar" B29 Superfortress, and the SR-71 Blackbird. The Smithsonian has the P51, the "Enola Gay" B29 and an SR-71 Blackbird.
Also, another thing I really liked seeing was the "nose art" on many planes.....from shark's mouths to pinups!
Only negative thing I have to say is that is was very dark in the "hangers" so a lot of my pics are dark as well.
Special thanks go out to Sean Motes (Big Bad Black Cad) for recommending this!
If you like planes, I definitely recommend going!
Came back to Wilmington about 3:00 PM and went to the track. Stopped to talk to Kim and Bill at the gate and it started sprinkling. They said it had been doing it on and off all day but, like me, are hopeful that tomorrow and Sunday will be better. They also told me that there 60 entries for both bikes and cars for this meet.
Hoping for better weather tomorrow and hopefully pics as well.
Gregg
Edit to add:
Here is my Photobucket link of the P51, B29, SR71 and some of the "nose art" I took today.
