A very big thank you for the quick help.  Our MPS bike lost 2nd and 5th gear on its qualifying run.  Your bracket, that you welded perfectly, let us hold the trans countershaft in place with a bronze "oilzite" type bushing.  The return run had all 5 gears and a record. 

You got us done quick enough to beat our 4-hour impound window.

Close call!!

When we were building a couple of "high tech" experimental projects in the early to late '60s; Miller was the welding equipment of choice.
Mostly is was H-11 stainless steel.
