Such a cool car... having driven a modified 1.8T street car, their success impresses me
greatly. My wife went 130.xxx in the stock 1.8T Audi, thinking it would have gone 140's
with the extra boost and bolt ons. Great job to James and the Das Bullet crew  8-)

Great picture of the Geezer Express!! Good weekend for our 17 year old "Geezer", Trever Acton - He got his B license - went 188. Back again in July to try for the "2" club. He wants a hat like the one the Charles was sporting in the lot at the Wilmington Inn.  Our thanks to all in the ECTA for another great weekend.

This does not make me feel bad now.  :-D
I woke up this morning and even though it was looking to be a gorgeous day, I decided to come on back to NC.
Left at 08:30 AM and got home at 05:00 PM.

Good seeing old friends and meeting new ones!
All in all, it was a good meet!

I saw one Corvair. Sort of cowcatcher front dam.  Spoke with the guy. Pretty much total Corvette running gear, brakes, steering column, shifter, engine, transaxle etc with engine in back.  I think he said had gone 170 something in the past. Saw him leave the line but was pushing out myself and didn't see the time but he was cooking leaving the line! Nicely engineered car best I could see.

As Jack posted, total Corvette stuff including modified frame. 8 bolts and the body comes off.
Well engineered car but I did not care for the cowcatcher air dam....To Dodge big!  :-D

I talked with the Corvair guy for a long time. It's a single turbo LS1 going to an automatic C5 corvette transaxle (basically he just removed the torque tube and used an adapter). His best pass was 174 before this event and I think that the efi tune may have caused the difference from improving it in June. I suggested that he try a run without the cow catcher and he actually did it - but lost about 5mph from the 170 he ran with it attached. IMO it was either all or nothing for downforce. From the pictures I took it looked like the car was pushing the front down several inches, yet without it the front created a few inches of lift.

Jim is a really nice guy and I was impressed at how much of the car he had actually built himself. It's street driven, but he traillered it down from NY for this event.
