Amy can row the gears and I have a toploader begging to be stuffed into some thing. It might find its way into the camaro next year. 8-)

That Toploader would be great, and will get you HP=MPH on the top end. Shifting w/o
the clutch gained a few MPH for me as well, surely there's a website that will give you
the optimal RPM to bang-shift a Toploader?

Frank if after my wife and I go to El Mirage for our first taste of LSR and I get her blessing to go LSR that's about how my build will be lol. Thankfully at this point there are a lot of open records in rear engine mod roadster. Might be my best bet on setting a record lol

Frankie, our next build was going to be REMR but after inventorying parts on hand and remembering that I have a '63 Triumph Spitfire (complete less eng.) in storage I think we will go with Modified Sport as there are a lot of open records in that one in the mile as well. :-D

Yep Luke there is a sweet spot on the TL's to "bang da gears". I might have to start scrounging parts. Another improvement for next year will be swapping out the 3.08 rear gears for 2.73.

Be aware of a couple things . . .

There are over 20 RMRs entered a SpeedWeek this year -- some looking at the open records.

And El Mirage has some stiff, but fair, minimums in every open class.

Thanks Stan but we don't do speedweek or other salt/dirt events yet. we poor. we don't have the time or funds at this time. We are on a learning curve and run standing mile events. I know your feelings on such activities but we have to start somewhere.

Stan, Frank never really mentioned anything about RMRs and the open records I did. RMRs is the class Im considering building a car for. I had never even really paid the class much attention until Sparky mentioned something about them one afternoon at his place. Ill have a better idea if Im even going to build a LSR car at all after the July meet in El Mirage. Itll be the first time that my wife and I attend an LSR event. Im sure Ill like it but I dont know if she will be ok with all the dust, dirt and wind. Not that a drag strip is much better. She always supported my drag racing and was the one person I counted on at the track. It was our thing to do together. If she doesnt like LSR than I doubt Ill even build a car. I wont go LSR without her support and blessing. Ill continue helping Sparky finish up his car and go to the races with him. RMR looks like a neat class and it puts my two favorite cars together in one package. Only time will tell what happens.

Sorry for the thread hijack Capt'n  :-)

Here we are in Ohio at the July '12 meet. We first ran the car at the April meet when it was ugly cold and wet. the july meet was brutely hot. Our best speed with the burito motor with little to no tuning was 137.66. That year was Amys first time in a purpose built car. not too shaby. I;ll be posting this years up grades next. Side shot for Tony. The car is still a little high with 1.5" lowering springs. Thinking about whacking one round out of them to get it lower but don't want to screw up the alignment because as Amy puts it it drives like it's on rails and the factory camber adj is about maxed to get it to zero.

This is really too funny, Frank!
You have a Spitfire and I have a 72 GT6.....We both like LSR but we have built/are building something else.  :?
I really thought about MS for my GT6 but I didn't have the heart to cut it up for LSR. After my Rampage is finished, I'm getting back to the GT6 with an engine, trans and rear end swap (already have all the parts) for a fun street ride.  :-D
Now all I need to do is finish the Rampage and here I am in Wilmington, OH.
Oh well, life is GOOD!.....LOL!
