Well after a rain delay or two we finally got the car to the drag strip for some shake down runs. I ran it first, crash test dummy I guess. It ran smooth and straight with no surprises and the breaks are true and tight. Amy ran it twice, back to back, without coming back to the pits. The track is lit but as the sun sets the track requires "a tail light" to run. Ain't got no working tail lights. :? Learned a few things. 1. The carb is a wee bit lean. The A/F meter I installed read 18:1 on the top end (1/4 mile) according to Amy. Me thinks me needs to fatten it up a bit.
2. New manual steering is nice and tight with no slop, Thanks for the parts hook up T-man.
3. Got a scrubbing noise under neith. Gotta hunt that down.
4. The new shifter seemed to do the job, will double check everything anyway.

All in all it was time well spent. Amy is in Buffalo, NY to see family and Anchor bar wings, yum.

We will most likely hit the drag strip a couple more times before the meet in Ohio in September.

We did another test and tune at the drag strip this past friday and were overall pleased. I made some jet changes since the last trip to the strip as the little burrito was running way lean. Amy needed some seat time as she was having some issues with the new shifter. After I informed her that she wasn't going to break the shifter and to treat it like her ex-husbands nut sack her shifting improved greatly. :) We got 5 runs in before the weather started pizzing rain at 9pm, time for food any way.

Amy ran a best of 98.3 mph at 15.2 in the 1/4 mile. Not too bad considering we have 3.08 gears and a TH350 slush box. Oh and Amy aint no drag racer.

One thing that is obvious to us is that a 1500 stall torque converter is too tight for for the new engine combo. Gotta get a new one in the 2500-2700 range.

Awesome Frank! I love the interior color. I will definitely be stealing that idea for the interior of Hank!

Frank and Amy.

Will have my camera and laptop with me so I'll post pics at the end of the day.....like I do in Wilmington.
Also, I posted in the Audio From The Great White Dyno thread this morning that I'll be glad to make a side trip to Milwaukee and pickup the webcast equipment from Chris and take it out to WoS. Waiting on his reply.

Another good trip to the drag strip. The new torque converter really did the trick. The car launches well without Amy having to do excessive leg work outs to hold the car on the line. It looks like about everything is done except for some minor tuning and cashing in cans and bottles for hotel and food money.  With some luck Amy will get her "C" license and I will have new goals for next year.

Thanks Sparky, Next year is going to be a bit tougher. We are trying to step a level each year. the "B" will require a lot more Hp, areo, may haps a trans and some gears, maybe.

When is a "C" better than a "D" for a woman?
