Update    It was the Hondata / Hasport Performance car.  That car got a driver in the El Mirage Two Club yesterday !  Latest word is he was flown out but appears to be in good shape,,,,all fingers and toes working, conscious and knows what happened.  Cut on leg...going for observation but in good shape.

Got a note from Tim working the course, Hondata car caught some air and flipped. As stated driver is ok and going to Loma Linda for Observation. Course is rough, many cars running slower than normal. Tim said he should run the #416 pickup after his shift/lunch.

Hey Dean.  Marlo Treit is sposedta drive Gil Ruiz's roadster. If ya get a chance, could ya let us know how he does?

Thanks,

Ray,

No run on Saturday. Last I saw car was being loaded up.

Here is a picture of Gil looking over the magazines that have been posted here.

I love the USA. How much longer will we be a free nation?

Asking questions is one's only way of getting answers.

The rational person lets verified facts form or modify his opinion.  The ideologue ignores verified facts which don't fit his preconceived opinions.

The story is on page 7 from Wendy...I saw pictures of the car...the wreck was so bad the engine/drive line came out...

Glad to hear he should be fine.

I am just spectating, hoping to join the Gear Grinders.

I will go look for Marlo Treit in Gil Ruiz' roadster.

Starting to like the taste of this dirt :)

Dean

Dean,

After looking at your pictures I am sure we were standing next to each other when Gil's Roadster was running. Sorry I did not introduce myself.

This is what Gil saw when he arrived at the car, he had no idea what was under the cover.

Tom G.

Good to meet you in retrospect Tom :)

Sorry I wasn't there today, Does anyone know if Ralph Hudson (and Jim Hoogerhyde) won the motorcycle points championship for 2013?

Or if John Noonan went even faster than 250 on Sunday?

Or which club earned the most points this year?

Thanks,
Dean

Here are some photos of Gil Ruiz and the roadster that Freud sent me:

They didn't get a chance to run the car, but Gil got a chance to see it and be there when they fired it up.

Dean,

Great seeing you!

Ralph won the bikes ..
After today's car crash we decided to pack it up and go home so no faster speeds than the 250 from yesterday.
Not sure on what club won..?

See you on the dirt in 2014 I hope!

John

Dean I apologize for not spending more time with you.

I appreciate the effort that you expended just to be there and then

to find us was extra special.  I'll try to be a better host the next time we are

at the track together. I wanted to make certain that Gil was featured after

the effort that was required for him to attend. He probably used several

days of energy just to get there and then back home. It was so special for

Marlo to have the car ready a year earlier than he had promised Gil and that

added to Gil's surprise. Hearing it run was beyond his wildest imagination.

That took him back 40 years. The car is the same color now as it was the

first time it came to the salt. Later it had a marvelous Candy Apple Red

paint job but this but his was family reunion day.

Thanks for searching us out and sharing a most special day for many of us.

We were surrounded by a group of our very special friends.

I can't imagine what it meant to Gil.

The other person that was so responsible was Gil's brother. He made the effort

to guarantee that Gil was there. That's  a dedication that probably only a brother

would show. The next time you see him ask him his name. I've already forgotten it.

Just call it "short term."

These are the people that were directly involved with this project and we should also

include Jason Hosking for making the fuel tank and doing the roll cage.

I apologize to the people that I overlooked.

MANY, MANY THANKS TO ALL for the pictures and commentary.
One of these years I'll get out there and experience it myself and see what dirt really tastes like!  :-D
